About Katie

Katie began her styling career in Asheville, NC in 2006 where she worked in the city’s leading and most progressive salon. Training under the city’s finest stylists and colorists, she quickly developed her creative eye and passion for hair. In 2011 she moved to St. Paul, MN where she worked in one of Allure Magazine’s “Top 100 salons” of 2012. She had the honor of working with a very talented and creative team, including Shear Genius‘ Faatemah Ampey.   In 2016 Katie moved to Durham North Carolina and she became a product specialist for Oribe Hair Care.  In 2017 she joined the Oribe Education Team where she gets regular intensive training from the world's leading hairdressers, and also has the privilege to teach classes for Oribe to hairdressers from around the globe sharing her passion for beautiful and fashion-forward hair. 

 She is active in New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, where she has had the honor to work with designers such as Brandon Maxwell, Hermes, Nina Ricci, Christian Siriano, Walter Mendez, Cinq a Sept, the Blonds, Veronica Beard, Cynthia Rowley, David Hart, Michael Costello, Prabal Gurung and many others.  Katie has been published in magazines such as Marie Claire, Modern Salon, American Salon, Estetica, Italian Vogue, Oribe Quarterly, Rough Luxury, and local publications in North Carolina.  

Katie is also a master colorist, specializing in both natural coloring as well as trendy out-there colors.  In 2014  Katie was a Semi-Finalist for Wella's North American Trend Vision for Color Category, and in 2015 and 2017 she won gold for North America and had the honor to represent the USA in the International Trend Vision Awards held in Berlin and London.  

In summer of 2016 Katie opened Culture Hair Studio in historic downtown Durham.  There she specializes in women's hair coloring, cutting, and styling.  She splits her time behind the chair and pursuing editorial exploits with other artists in photo shoots and fashion events.  She is passionate about drawing out each of her guests' unique beauty, and her philosophy is that there is always more, one never "arrives"!
